I thought this unusual viewpoint would make a nice painting of Newport in Pembrokeshire. The boat ramp leads the eye on down and onto the beach, before heading across to the boat and Newport's colourful cottages.

I painted this painting of a sheep ( a Welsh mountain ewe ) from a photograph I took out of my car window. I thought the lovely view behind the ewe looking across the Preseli mountains made a lovely backdrop.

This landscape painting with it's remote beauty and very wild feel is a typical view up in the Preseli mountains of west Wales. I had a lot of fun painting the dramatic sky in this painting, painting it largely with a palette knife with very little brush work.

This is a painting of the Waldo Stone high up in the Preseli mountains of West Wales. Waldo Williams was a local Welsh poet from Haverfordwest and this stone was erected in his honour.

This painting of Mwnt Church was great fun to paint. I've painted the beautiful little church before but this painting is a little warmer in tone with some parts, namely the sky, being quite impressionistic.

These lovely Welsh ponies were up on the Preseli hills one day when I was walking near the village of Rosebush. This view is looking form Foel Eryr across to Rosebush lake.

Ceibwr bay on the Pembrokeshire coast is a beautifully rugged and wild place to spend some time and if you walk south along the coast path for half a mile or so then turn around and look north you'll see this view. The day I was there the sky was full of bird life enjoying the updraft provided by the sheer Welsh cliffs.

This landscape painting is of Bedd Morris in Pembrokeshire. You get to Bedd Morris by turning left on the south side of Newport, and heading up into the Preseli hills. Bedd Morris means Morris' Grave in Welsh.

Seascape paintings and estuary scenes are a favourite subject of mine to paint. This painting is of Gwbert / Patch near to Cardigan, where the river Teifi meets the sea, and captures the gentle calm of the area when the tide is out. A wonderful spot for bird watching incidentally.

This Mwnt painting is from a different vantage point compared to the Mwnt Church painting in 'gallery one'. Here I wanted to capture the feel of the whole area with it's beach and small church, and try to give an impression of how wild and rugged it actually is there.

This painting of Newport in Pembrokeshire is the view from the main beach looking back at the town, and the beautiful mountain of Carningli that over looks it. 'Carningli' means Angel mountain in Welsh, and is a wonderful part of the Preseli mountains of West Wales.

This painting of a waterfall is called Ffrwd Camddwr, and is up in the hills east of Tregaron in west Wales. I was lucky to be there after heavy rainfall when the falls were beautifully impressive.

The river Teifi at Cardigan West Wales is still a busy fishing port and here I've painted some of the fishing boats at low tide sitting on the sand in the bright sunlight.

Aberporth beach is a very popular spot in the summer months with it's lovely safe sandy beaches. This painting is the view looking back at the main rocky outcrop and carpark from a view point down by the shore.

I spent a lovely afternoon just exploring, taking lots of photographs and watching the fishermen working here at Fishguard lower harbour. On a bright summers day there's no better place to be.

I grew up on a dairy farm here in Wales so I love cow paintings. These Friesian cows are in lush spring grass under a warm sun and loving it. Can you blame them?

This view of Quay street is from the top looking down towards the old quay and the docks. This is a busy narrow little street here in Cardigan and always bustling with life.

This is the view you get looking back having walked out to the end of the harbour wall in Fishguard lower in Pembrokeshire west Wales. Although a bustling place in the summer months you can visit in the winter and quite often be the only one there.

I was driving along up in the Preseli and saw this scene in my rearview mirror after I'd driven around the bend, I had to jump out quickly and take a photograph which I used for reference for this painting.
