''The most remote phone box in Wales'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

As phone boxes go you don't get much more remote than this one here in Ceredigion Wales. It's on the road from Tregaron to Abergwesyn ( called the mountain road ) and is known as the Cefn cerrig Telefon. Not only is the phone a lifeline for the remote farms in the area, but it's a fantastic spot to stop for a sandwich and a cup of tea... that's what I did.

I've painted Strumble lighthouse in Pembrokeshire before but this time there was a gathering storm out at sea. The purple / blue clouds looming in from the west give this welsh landscape painting very wild and dramatic feel.

If you drive from Cardigan to Haverfordwest over the Preseli mountain you'll go past this scene, but these are not standing stones, they are rocks left in this peculiar formation by the activity from the last ice age. I spent a wonderful afternoon up here listening to Skylarks and taking photographs.

Ceibwr bay on the Pembrokeshire coast is a beautifully rugged and wild place to spend some time and if you walk south along the coast path for half a mile or so then turn around and look north you'll see this view. The day I was there the sky was full of bird life enjoying the updraft provided by the sheer Welsh cliffs.

I was driving along up in the Preseli and saw this scene in my rearview mirror after I'd driven around the bend, I had to jump out quickly and take a photograph which I used for reference for this painting.

The village of Newport in Pembrokeshire West Wales sits between the mountain of Carningli and the sea. This is the view looking down one of the slipways in the harbour which, when wind and tides allow, can be mirror calm.

I was walking along the side of the Gwbert estuary and saw this scene, a man working on his boat. I took a quick photograph and worked from that and my memory to produce this painting.

This is a painting of the view over looking the Teifi estuary a little way inland from Poppit beach very near to The Webley Hotel. The sea mist comes in thick and fast here and can be quite dramatic at times.

This landscape painting of Pembrokeshire is the little village of Rhydowen in the Preseli hills. I was stuck by the small out building and it's bright red door and just had to paint it.

Situated on the side of the river Teifi here in Pembrokeshire Saint Dogmaels in a very picturesque village and the site of a ruined monastery.

This is another welsh landscape painting. I love the quiet roads up on the Preseli hills, and whilst up there the only sound to be heard was an occasional ewe bleating. A beautiful spot indeed.

This landscape painting of Cardigan Island in the view from over the other side of the river Teifi near to Poppit beach. The Cliff Hotel stands on the headland and looks across to the Island on the far left.

If you drive from Crymych to Rosebush in the Preseli mountains you'll pass this little landscape scene. I saw the way the sun was hitting the little stone out building and the farm house and just had to paint it.

This is a scene high up in the Cambrian mountains of mid Wales, welsh art. This old cart track heads on up the Doethie valley and beyond. Once this area was dotted with numerous small farms, but most now lay abandoned and ruined as farming has changed over time making small holdings unviable, the land being absorbed by the few larger farms that remain.

Newport in Pembrokeshire is a busy place in the summer months with its idyllic setting under the shadow of Carn Ingli and with it's huge beach and beautiful harbour. This landscape painting is the view is from the bottom of the boat ramp looking south towards Dinas head in the distance.

I spent a lovely afternoon just exploring, taking lots of photographs and watching the fishermen working here at Fishguard lower harbour. On a bright summers day there's no better place to be.

High up in the Cambrian mountains of mid Wales there's a hostel called Ty'n Cornel ( The most remote hostel in Wales! ). It's one of two hostel run by Elenydd Wilderness Hostels Trust and this is the view from the car park looking on up the Doethie valley, a remote and beautiful place.

I love paintings of bridges, this is a painting of the old Welsh stone bridge here in Cardigan town in Ceredigion. The stone structure you can glimpse on the very right of the painting is Cardigan castle, which over looks the bridge.

This view is from Cardigan bridge looking down the river Teifi towards St Dogmaels. The boats are tied-up along side the old mercantile warehouses.

This is my second Strumble lighthouse painting and very much Pembrokeshire art. It's a fantastically wild place and this view can be seen from the disused world war 2 look-out installation that's used by ornithologists to keep track of migrating birds.

''Tafarn Bwlch - Preseli Mountain'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. ( SOLD )

This Welsh painting is of two derelict farm houses on the road leading over the Preseli mountains south. I went back to the spot couple of times to get the bright early morning sun coming in from the left to highlight the building as I wanted it.
