Painting of horses

''Pulling power'' Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''.

£185 Unframed.

You only see horses ploughing at exhibitions and shows these days so with this painting I tried to capture the a bit of old farming life. Of course I had to put in the opportunistic sea gulls that are always present when the soil is being worked.

Black and white cow painting

"One of the girls" Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''.

£185 unframed

I grew up on a dairy farm here in Wales so cows are a favourite subject of mine. These Friesians are in lush spring grass under a warm sun and loving it. Can you blame them?

Lighthouse painting

''Strumble lighthouse'' Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''.

£185 Unframed.

This painting of Strumble lighthouse in Pembrokeshire west wales is the view as seen from the bird observatory a few hundred yards away. This is a wild and rugged place with the sea boiling and waves crashing. If you ever visit take your coat.

Friesian cow painting

"Curious cow" Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''.

£185 unframed

I was trying to capture the ''Who are you and what do you want?'' look with this cow painting.

Welsh landscape painting

''Dinas Island from Dinas Mountain'' Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''.

£185 Unframed.

Being on the west coast of Wales' Pembrokeshire national park Dinas Island is a stunning place. Here I've painted it as seen from Dinas mountain. The day I was up there all I could hear where Skylarks singing high up in the blue sky. I sat on a rock up there for quite a while just... being.

Welsh forest in autumn painting

''Autumn forest walk'' Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''. ( SOLD )

With this painting I was trying to give the impression of a cool autumn morning. The warm oranges of the bracken look beautiful at this time of year and with the bright sunlight shining through the trees make a lovely scene.

Welsh pembrokeshire cottage painting

''Tri nant'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 Unframed.

High up in the Preseli mountains of west Wales is this abandoned cottage. The welsh name 'Tri-nant' means three brooks / streams. The only sound to be heard whilst I was there was a family of Jackdaws that have made Tri-nant their home.

New Zealand Mount Cook Painting

''Spen and his mountain'' Oil on Hardboard 24 1/2'' by 16 1/2''. ( SOLD )

I lived in New Zealand for a while and have many fond memories of my time there. This mountainscape painting was done for a friend who lives in Wellington NZ and spends a lot of time climbing and trekking all over New Zealands north and south islands. It was painted from a photograph and that's him standing in front of Mount Cook, New Zealands highest Peak.

Welsh landscape Painting - Mwnt in ceredigion

''Mwnt beach- Ceredigion west Wales'' Oil on canvas 20'' by 16''.

£140 unframed.

This welsh painting is of a little beach on the west coast of Wales. The steep steps leading down to the beach make it tricky to get to for some people which in turn can mean you have the beach to yourself quite often. I spent a while trying to get the best vantage point from where to paint this picture, finally deciding on the view with the steps in leading down the hillside. The little figures with a dash of colour on them and the seagulls just help to give the painting a little movement and life.

River painting

''Pontsaithgarreg, Crosswell'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

This original welsh oil painting is of a river crossing on a back road near Crosswell in Pembrokshire west wales. The name 'Bontsaithgareg' is welsh for 'seven stone bridge'. There are no signs saying this anywhere, but none the less that is what it's known as locally. I thought my painting had a old worldy feel to it towards the end of painting so I added the small boys in shorts playing in the river to finish it off.

Tractor painting

''Tractor at Ceibwr Bay, Pembrokeshire'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

Here's a beautiful scene I think. This is the little beach of Ceibwr bay on the west coast of Wales' Pembrokeshire national park. This old International tractor sits there next to the ancient lime kiln quietly becoming part of the surroundings. Although it's still used to take the boat behind down to the water occasionally. If you ever walk the Pembrokeshire coast path you'll walk right past this tractor.

Cardigan Town Painting

''View over Cardigan bridge'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

I enjoy painting local welsh art and with this Cardigan town painting there were lots of tricky angles to get to grips with. It all started to come to life in the last session when I added the signs, car and figure and I am chuffed with the final outcome. The veiw is over Cardiagn bridge towards the town and the Grosvenor Hotel.

Preseli mountains painting

''View to Frenni Fawr - Preseli Mountain'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. ( SOLD )

This is another welsh landscape painting. I chose a quite road up on the presili hills. Whilst up there the only sound to be heard was an occasional ewe bleating. A beautiful spot indeed.

Welsh landscape painting - Preseli

''Tafarn Bwlch - Preseli Mountain'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. ( SOLD )

This welsh painting is of two derelict farm houses on the road leading over the Preseli mountain south. I went back to the spot couple of times to get the bright early morning sun coming in from the left to highlight the building as I wanted it.

Sheep painting - Preseli Hills

''Lamb & Ewe - Preseli'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

Here's another welsh landscape painting that was painted from a photo that a friend snapped with her camera out of the car window as we were driving around the Preseli hills. With this welsh mountain ewe and her lamb ( welsh art indeed ) I made a point of keeping this painting loose and not getting into too much detail.

Canal boat painting

''Brecon Canal'' Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

I liked the layout for this painting. Looking through the arch of the bridge and on up the Brecon canal to the distant boats. I though about putting a little smoke coming from the boats chimney but decided against it.

Newquay harbour fishing boat painting

( Painting shown at the Patchings Exhibition 2008 )

"New Quay harbour (west Wales)" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

I enjoyed painting this seascape of the west wales town of New Quay on the southern end of Cardigan Bay. There were lots of strong darks to get in, but also some quite bright areas too and the reflections on the wet sand brought it all to life.

Teifi Estuary oil painting

"Teifi Estuary, Patch" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

This is another local welsh landscape / seascape. In fact it's only about five minutes away from my house in Cardigan. The view is over the Teifi estuary from Patch looking at the Webley Hotel on the far side. I started here with an orange toned canvas and left a hint of that showing through in the final painting.

Newport Beach Painting

"Newport Beach (Pembs)" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

This is a local Pembrokeshire painting and a favourite spot of mine. This is the north end of Newport beach, the south end being where the Parog is. I put the little character in staring out to see and the peninsular of Dinas Head.

Snowdonia national park lake Painting

"Llyn Dinas, Snowdonia" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

I really enjoyed painting this north wales landscape as it's in one of my favourite places in the world - Snowdonia national park. I thought about adding some flying geese or ducks to the sky but resisted. ( spot the Welsh weather ? )

Cow art

"Ladies who lunch" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''.

£120 unframed

I come from a dairy farming background so this Friesian cow painting brings back some great memories. There's quite a lot of blue and red in the ladies themselves surprisingly.
