"The cubs" Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''. £185 unframed I planned this lion painting as having just the one cub in it, then about half way though I thought having the other two lion cubs behind would help with the composition. The cubs laying down at the back were the hardest to get right due to the angles. ( Ref photo courtesy of 'Tambako the Jaguar' )
"Top cat" Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''. £220 unframed This Tiger painting was great fun to do. After getting the basic shapes in the right place it was just a matter of refining the painting until I was happy to stop. ( Ref photo courtesy of 'Tambako the Jaguar' )
"Playtime" Oil on canvas 24'' by 18''. £185 unframed We often see foxes here in west Wales and growing up on a farm I remember watching fox cubs playing just like this many times as a child. With this painting I was trying to capture their playful and inquisitive nature as they explore the new world around them.
"The Siberian" Oil on canvas 20'' by 16''. (SOLD) Here is a head and shoulders portrait of a Siberian Tiger. At 20 by 16 inches this is quite a striking painting and orange/red fur works well against the blue/whites of the snow. I'm not sure what he's looking at, but I wouldn't want to be it.
"Breakfast time" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. £120 unframed With this Vole painting I wanted to capture a snap-shot of a watery world down in the reeds that few of us ever think about. Lots of lemon yellow highlights on the reeds and pinkish white highlights on the furry fellow brought this painting to life towards the end.
"Just hanging around" Oil on canvas paper 16'' by 13''. (SOLD) This original oil painting of a baby gorilla is one of my favourites. It was painted from a photograph which had some very busy and complicated background foliage. I simplified this greatly, putting in as little as I thought I could get away with.
"The Boss" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. (SOLD) I enjoy wildlife art and with this male lion painting I tried to capture the menace in his eyes and give the impression he's looking at his next victim.
"Siberian Tiger in snow" Oil on canvas 20'' by 16''. (SOLD) I just love the contrast between the orange/yellow coat and the blue/white of the snow in this Siberian tiger painting. The snow kicking up off of the tiger paws helps to add a sense of movement here.
"Barn Owl" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. (SOLD) I like to paint birds as well as other forms of wildlife. Here I tried to paint the feeling of a cold frosty morning with this Barn owl painting. The owl was great fun to paint and the foreground grasses finished it off quite nicely I thought.
"Wolf" Oil on canvas paper 16'' by 13''. (SOLD) Another wildlife painting. A howling wolf painting this time, painted quite quickly in a couple of sessions. I tried to put in the wolf itself with much thicker paint than the background to bring it forward. I must say that the actual painting looks better than this photograph. I'm not sure why.
"Fox on the move" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. ( SOLD ) For this fox painting I thought I would paint a winter scene. Lot's of blues from light to dark where used to give the impression of snow here. There's a fair bit of alizarin crimson in there too.
"Sunset Badger" Oil on canvas 16'' by 12''. (SOLD) Lots of green and yellow in this badger painting so I added a fair bit of alizarin crimson to spice things up a bit here and there. |
