This baby gorilla painting is a painting I took a little more time over. It was painted from a photograph which had some very busy and complicated background foliage. I simplified this greatly, putting in as little as I thought I could get away with.

I enjoy wildlife painting and with this painting of a male lion I tried to capture the menace in his eyes and give the impression he's looking at his next victim.

I tried to paint the feeling of a cold frosty morning with this one. The owl was great fun to paint and the foreground grasses finished it off quite nicely I thought.

This tiger painting was done from a tiny magazine clipping advertising holidays to India.

Another wildlife painting. This is quite a simple picture of a howling wolf painted quickly in one afternoon. I tried to put in the wolf itself with much thicker paint than the background to bring it forward. I must say that the actual painting looks better than this photograph. I'm not sure why.

This painting was painted using only four colours. It was fun trying to make all the ducks look like ducks only painting them in silhouette form.

This painting went well until it came to putting in the background water. I just couldn't get it looking how I wanted it, but I persevered and after a couple of attempts it came together.

Here's a duck painting that I tried to keep in a fairly loose style. When painting the bird I put the paint on quite thickly and didn't go back and mess with it too much.

For this wildlife painting I thought I would paint a snow. Lot's of blues from light to dark where used to give the impression of snow.

With this painting I really enjoyed working on the water, trying to make it look ...well....like water really. The last thing I did here was put the highlights on. Bright yellow on the reeds and pinkish white on the fur. This is one of my favourite wild life paintings I've done so far.

Lots of green and yellow in this badger painting so I added a fair bit of alizarin crimson to spice things up a bit here and there.
